Poetic renderings of the Beatitudes
by Tomas Meyers

Anointed with Devotional Volition and Buoyant Joy

Co-joined with designs of buoyant joy are those
who see each moment anew
through an infusion of devotional volition,
thereby rendering the conditions for
impending splendor,
and ending the specter of
projected expectations

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God
(Traditional)

Delighted are those who are surrender to God, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Modern)

From Meager Beginnings
Comes Eager Ends

Well satisfied are those who postpone doubt
and simplify their lives through naturalness of action.
Although humble in means,
the air they breathe
carries them from feverish stumbling.
Modest as it seems,
life sustaining breath arises from a silent source and (through the concourse of combined sound and motion)
ignites the waiting mind with devotion to the One from whom we come.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted

Delighted are the wailing ones, for they shall be comforted.

Toowayhon laweelay:

Transformative Mourning

When the closet closes us with stark loneliness,
and we are lost in dark worry,
torn by self-scorn and waning health...
then, know,
a door opens toward our center-most contentment,
helping us re-enter mystery,
freely to uplift our faces,
and release distorting pain.

Blessed are the meek

Delighted are the humble and the flexible, for they shall inherit the land (earth)

Toowayhon lmakeyhey: dhenon nertoon araa

Meekness Without Weakness

Innocently responsive pliancy,
bred from self-awareness,
increases healthful intimacy
and arbitrates our deepest needs.
Alleviate misconceived differences and
reconcile exiled strangers
by letting soothing breaths and blessed smiles redirect lost and tainted thoughts.
Let caution grow eager to become bold,
and hold an inner meeting place
where you perceive the whole.
Assay the sum of seemingly divergent views,
so you can reap the harvest of renewed youthfulness and garner lasting happiness.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled

Delighted are those who hunger and thirst for justice; for they shall be full.

Toowayhon laylain dkapneen wazhain lkaynootha:

Reimburse Your Hunger and Thirst

Enduring rewards are assured
for all who labor ardently
in their thirst for purpose and stability.
They will find abilities
which ease their momentary blight,
and soon relieve torturous fears.
Although parching hardship befall them,
and inner-warfare pull their minds,
they will breathe fulfillment in the air,
and bloom fully clear of bleak despair.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy

Delighted are the compassionate, for compassion shall return to them.

Toowayhon lamrahmanay: dalayhon nehoon rahmay

The Circle of Mercy

The kin of kindness
breed resplendent mindfulness,
and send tender youth
to ease untended injuries,
and retrieve the sap of love
from primeval roots.
Brimming with gratitude
and beautifully clad,
gentle Ms Sympathy
bends to mend madness
with sanity's kiss,
and soon hands sadness
an uplifting gift.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Delighted are those who are pure in their hearts: for they (shall) experience God all around.

Toowayhon laylain dadkain blibhon:
denon nehzon lalaha

Purity Insures Security

Fervent fidelity to Universal Will
fulfills both body and soul,
acknowledging the preciousness
of each instant,
while insinuating blessings
and easing contentiousness
with persuasive smiles
which pervade the atmosphere
with everlasting cheer.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.

Delighted are those who serve peace; for they are God-like.

Toowayhon lawday shlama davnow dahala nethdron

Peacemakers are God's Pacemakers

Peace and justice come to those
who practice peacefulness and equipoise.
Our thirst is naturally assuaged
as calmly we surrender to vast arrays of majesty
and draw from pristine wells.
The source of wellness looms,
like the welcome sun,
and unencumbered,
we become beautiful and pure.
Understanding soon exfoliates among the people,
as the land is held in holiness.
Deeply touched are those in openness,
and good fortune follows without need of luck,
since trust wholly blesses us.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Delighted are those who are persecuted for the sake of justice: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Toowayhon laylain detrdep metol kaynootha dilhon malkutha dashmaya

Transmuted Persecution

Affliction's residue conceals a gift
which heals us of indifference
to another's struggle with inequity.
Perhaps our own beleaguered minds
can coax reflection on misdirected acts,
show us once disowned artifacts,
and build a temple of sweet delight?
Scarred and blind resentment can gain eyes,
and find contentment eagerly
awaiting simple scrutiny.
Let us soothe cruel insanity,
smother smug innuendoes and slanderous intent,
then lend a hand to those haplessly misplaced,
and move into the habitat
of astounding boundlessness.

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake

Delighted are you when they taunt you and persecute you and are saying every kind of vicious word against you because of my teachings.

Toowayhon immath damhasdeen lkhon waradpin lkhon wamrim eleykon kul milla bisha metolath wdagalutha

Smile While Reviled

When,
in the name of sustained awakening,
perverse and maiming slurs are reconciled
without reverting to reprisals
or self-blame or doubt,
then,
even accused of putrid uselessness,
we can incorporate distortions
into clear awareness.
Health is ultimately assured,
and each gooey tentacle becomes revered,
as we reverse despair
and understand in intimate detail
the very outline of our divine countenance.

Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven for so they persecuted the prophets before you.

At that very moment be joyful, for your reward is assured, for in the same manner they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Haydeyn khadaw wa rwazw dargarkhun sgee washmaya hakana geyr rdapw l'naviya d'men q'damaykun

Be Glad, Be Great, Break Awake,
and Stay Amazed

Funnel inspiration
from the interdimensional storehouse of allowances, and implore fear and adversity to disappear.
Dismiss apparent discord,
then make amends with despair
and lessen arrogance.
Extend awareness into infinite elation,
and arouse the heartbeat of a sacred spouse.
Start where you are,
startled and amazed,
and drop your armaments.
Uncover passionate purpose amidst the rubble,
and stop searching for an outside source.
Impart doubtless fervor to each passerby,
then realize you have passed this way before,
and are supported by an ever-seeding lineage.
