Short Versions of the Lord's Prayer

by Tomas Meyers

Our Parent
Our parent who is everywhere,
forever is your Word.
Let your world come and work be done
on earth as in all places.
Live with us always and meet our needs each day.
Your forgiveness gives incentive to forgive and let live.
Keep us from forgetfulness, and free us from mistakes,
for yours is the world at large and small,
gloriously restored and restorative throughout the ages.

Caring Parent
(on CD track 2)

Dear one, near to everyone, caring parent who is everywhere,
we hear your restorative Word, and revere the Source.
The course of sacred counsel comes to earth,
and universal peace and harmony take birth.
This day we are sustained with nurturance
from domains both known and unknown.
May no offence remain, and no offender be proclaimed.
May we awaken from the lure of false appearances and fears,
and cure ourselves of injurious mistakes.
In sum, the wonder of this moment
(like an irrepressible smile)
gloriously unfolds
while we listen to the living chorus of infinitude,
and express lasting gratitude for the ongoing gift of life.
Singing ourselves awake
(on CD track 6)
Dear One, near to everyone, caring parent who is everywhere.
Your clearly sacred nature is revered, and joyously wakens us
with a clarion voice of limitless awareness.
Sensing the Tender Tutor of unending beginnings, this instant,
we interpenetratingly create eternity, as ardent hearts give birth
to reemergence of beatific primacy on earth.
Glad to be alive, we gratefully conspire to resurrect
direct connection with omni-directional perfection.
May we encourage our intermeshed odyssey of death and birth
with reassuring wellness drawn from earth's perpetually replenishing pantry.
May we re-see mistaken identities, and identify with the undefiled.
Let us digress from indigestible consumption of ill-formed presumptions,
and invest breath with precious thankfulness.
Everything sings the Name of Unity and each moment brings an opportunity
to notice our true holiness.
